Kaivara Temple

                                                         Saint Narayana thata

Kaivara a small town is around 70 Kms away from Bangalore in chintamani taluk in Kolar District,it has a Historical significance for Amara Narayana Swamy temple, BheemaLingeswara temple and Pandvas lived here during Mahabharatha times still its proof exists.

The drive to this place is on highways easy and takes less than 2 hours. For people living in Bangalore this can be a weekend getaway. For the rest of the people, they can fly or take a train/bus/car to Bangalore and the drive to Kaivara.

Kaivara temple is dedicated to saint and poet Narayanappa whose samadhi is also there just behind the temple. Every day at 12.30 pm main pooja is done to the saint and immediately after that Annadana or Prasadam is given to all the devotees there.


                                                               Dining Hall

The Dining hall is Neat & Clean and has Dining table for all. The place has a clean toilet and bathroom especially useful when one go with family.If you are going in a big group better to inform them for preparing food which is served in afternoon.


                                                     Amara Narayana Temple

One can also carry Snacks or Food and stop in between the Route for snacks. The best time to be here will be between the months of January – March and June – September.


                                                Amara Narayana Main Temple

The Adinarayana or Amaranarayana temple , Gopalaswamy temple BrahmaLingeswara temple are the main dieties and there are many other small temples around and has Ancient Caves in a Hill. 


                                                               Bakasura Hill


There is Bheema bakasura betta or Hill which has 600 steps to climb and it is quite steep. The scenery on top is Excellent. But the elderly and ladies can avoid climbing.  It was here  that Bheema killed Bakasura the demon who was terrifying the people of this region.

From Kaivara mutt, Adi Narayana temple is just 100 meters and Brahmeswara is another 100 meters from there. From brahmeswara continue on the narrow road for about 200 meters and you will join the road to Vaikunta or the cave where the saint Narayanappa did tapas. 



                                                     Temple Road & View of the Hill


The place has a cave and yagnashala and there are lot of monkeys. Go empty handed to see the cave. From there continue straight towards kailashgiri. You continue on this road for 3 to 4 kms and you will reach a "Y" junction. If you turn right you will hit Chintamani- Bangalore highway after 2 kms. YOu have to turn left to go to kailashgiri.There is a small temple nearby dedicated to Lord RAMA called as Aranya Rama temple.


                                                   Bheema Lingeswara Temple

The Bheemalingeswara temple is believed to have been built by Bheema one of the Pandavas. Kaivara was known as Eka-chakrapuram during the time of the Mahabharatha. It was here that the Pandavas spent a year in hiding after escaping the attempt of their lives at the house of lac.
