ಶ್ರೀಕೃಷ್ಣದೇವರಾಯ ವಿಜಯನಗರ ಅರಸನಾಗಿದ್ದ ಕಾಲ. ಶ್ರೀ ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಯರನ್ನು ಒಬ್ಬ ವೈಷ್ಣವ ಯತಿಗಳೆಂದು ಮಾತ್ರ ಕಾಣದೆ ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವರೂಪೋದ್ಧಾರಕರೆಂದು ಭಾವಿಸಿದ್ದ. ತನ್ನ ಯಾವುದೇ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೂ ರಾಜಗುರುಗಳಾದ ಶ್ರೀ ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಜರ ಸಲಹೆ ಕೇಳದೆ ಮುಂದುವರಿಯುತ್ತಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.

ವಿಜಯನಗರದ ಅರಸ ಕೃಷ್ಣದೇವರಾಯ ಶ್ರೀ ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಜರ ಅಗಾಧ ವಿದ್ವತ್ತಿಗೆ ಗೌರವವಾಗಿ ರತ್ನಾಭಿಷೇಕ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದ. ಒಮ್ಮೆ ಜ್ಯೋತಿಷ್ಯರು ಕೃಷ್ಣದೇವರಾಯನಿಗೆ ಕುಹುಯೋಗ ಎಂಬ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಅನಿಷ್ಟ ಯೋಗ ಕಾಡಿ ಅವನ ಪ್ರಾಣಾಪಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಗುರಿಯಾಗುವ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆ ಇದೆ ಎಂದರು. ಕೂಡಲೇ ರಾಜ ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಜರ ಬಳಿ ಬಂದು ಜ್ಯೋತಿಷ್ಯರ ಮಾತನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ. ಆಗ ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಜರು "ನೀನು ಆ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕೂಡಬೇಡ.

ಬೇರೆ ಯಾರಾದರೂ ಕುಳಿತರಾಯಿತು" ಎಂದರು. ರಾಜನಿಗೆ ಅವರ ಉತ್ತರ ಒಗಟಾಯಿತು. ಯಾರನ್ನು ಆ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಡಿಸುವುದು, ಯಾರು ತಾನೇ ಆ ಮೃತ್ಯುಕೂಪದ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಡುತ್ತಾರೆ ಎಂದಾಗ, ಶ್ರೀ ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಯರು - "ನಿನಗೆ ಆ ಚಿಂತೆ ಬೇಡ, ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಆ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ನಾವೇ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇವೆ" ಎಂದರು. ಆಗ ರಾಜ ಹೇಳಿದ. "ಸಾಧ್ಯವಿಲ್ಲ ಮಹಾಸ್ವಾಮಿ, ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟೇನೇ ಹೊರತು ತಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಆ ಸ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳ್ಳಿರಿಸಿ ಕಳೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾರೆ " ಎಂದ.

ಆಗ ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಜರು "ನಾವು ಹರಿವಾಯುಗಳ ಅನುಗ್ರಹದಿಂದ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಳ್ಳುವೆವು, ನಮಗೆ ಯಾವ ಗ್ರಹ ಬಾಧೆಯೂ ಸರ್ವಥಾ ತಟ್ಟಲಾರದು, ಸಕಲ ಗ್ರಹಬಲನಾದ ಸರಸಿಜಾಕ್ಷನೇ ರಕ್ಷಿಸುತ್ತಾನೆ, ಚಿಂತನೆ ಬೇಡ" ಎಂದಾಗ, ಶ್ರೀ ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಯರ ಪವಾಡಗಳನ್ನು ಸಾಕಷ್ಟು ತಿಳಿದಿದ್ದ ರಾಜ ಒಪ್ಪಿ, ಶ್ರೀ ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಜರಿಗೆ ಧಾರೆಯೆರೆದು ಸಿಂಹಾಸನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳ್ಳಿರಿಸಿ ಅಭಿಷೇಕ ಮಾಡಿದ.

ಕುಹುಯೋಗವೆಂಬುದು ರಾಹು, ಸೂರ್ಯ, ಶನಿ, ಅಂಗಾರಕ ಗ್ರಹಗಳು ಒಂದು ವಿಷ ಗಳಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಮಾವಾಸ್ಯೆಯ ದಿನ ಮಕರ ರಾಶಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಧಿಸಿದೆ. 04.02.1524 ದಿನದಂದು ಶ್ರೀ ಕೃಷ್ಣ ದೇವರಾಯನಿಗೆ ಒದಗಿದ್ದ ಕುಹುಯೋಗ. ಆ ದಿನ ಅಸಂಖ್ಯ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರೂ, ರಾಜಪ್ರಮುಖರೂ, ಜ್ಯೋತಿಷ್ಕರೂ, ಯಾಜ್ಞಿಕರೂ , ದೇಶಾಭಿಮಾನಿಗಳು ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ಬಂದು ಸೇರಿದ್ದರು.

 

 ಶ್ರೀ ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಯರು ಧ್ಯಾನಾಸಕ್ತರಾಗಿ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತಿದ್ದಂತೆ ಅಸುರೀ ಶಕ್ತಿಯೊಂದು ಧಾವಿಸಿತು. ಆಗ ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಜರು ತಮ್ಮ ಕಾವಿಶಾಟಿಯನ್ನು ಅದರತ್ತ ಬಿಸುಟರು. ಅದು ಕೂಡಲೇ ಎಲ್ಲರೂ ನೋಡುತ್ತಿರುವಂತೆಯೇ ದಗ್ಧವಾಯಿತು. ರಾಜನ ಕುಹುಯೋಗದ ಅವಧಿಯೂ ಮುಗಿಯಿತು , ರಾಜನ ಕುಹುಯೋಗವೂ ಪರಿಹಾರವಾಯಿತು.

ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಯರು ಸಿಂಹಾಸನದಿಂದ ಕೆಳಗೆ ಇಳಿದು ಮತ್ತೆ ಶ್ರೀ ಕೃಷ್ಣದೇವರಾಯನನ್ನು ಸಿಂಹಾಸನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳ್ಳಿರಿಸಿ ರಾಜ್ಯಾಭಿಷೇಕ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಇದರ ಕುರುಹಾಗಿ ಶ್ರೀ ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಜರ ಪರಂಪರೆಯ ಶ್ರೀ ವ್ಯಾಸರಾಜ ಮಠದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಂದಿಗೂ ಕೂಡಾ ಪ್ರತಿನಿತ್ಯ ಪೂಜಾನಂತರ ದರ್ಬಾರ್ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದಿದೆ.

The Day Sri Krishnadevaraya’s Kuhu Yoga Was Resolved - Magha Amavasya - 28.02.2025

During the reign of Sri Krishnadevaraya, the emperor of Vijayanagara, he regarded Sri Vyasaraja not just as a Vaishnava saint but as his spiritual savior. The king never undertook any major endeavor without consulting his royal guru, Sri Vyasaraja.

In recognition of Sri Vyasaraja’s immense scholarship and spiritual stature, Krishnadevaraya once honored him with a grand Ratnabhisheka (a ceremonial anointment with precious gems).

At one point, court astrologers warned Krishnadevaraya about an ominous planetary alignment known as Kuhu Yoga, which signified great misfortune, possibly even a threat to his life. Alarmed, the king immediately sought guidance from Sri Vyasaraja.

Sri Vyasaraja reassured him, saying, “Do not sit on your throne during that particular time. Let someone else occupy it.” This cryptic advice puzzled the king. Who could be made to sit on the throne during such a perilous moment? How could anyone take his place?

Understanding the king’s dilemma, Sri Vyasaraja said, “You need not worry about that. I will take care of it myself.”

A distressed Krishnadevaraya protested, “That is impossible, O revered Swami! I would rather sacrifice my life than risk yours.”

With a calm and divine presence, Sri Vyasaraja replied, “I am under the grace of Lord Hari and Vayu. No planetary force can ever affect me. The Supreme Lord, Sri Sarasijaksha (Lord Vishnu), protects us all. Have no fear.”

Having witnessed the many miracles of Sri Vyasaraja, the king finally relented. On the fateful day, February 4, 1524, when Kuhu Yoga manifested, Sri Vyasaraja took his seat on the throne while the court was filled with scholars, astrologers, priests, and noblemen—all anxiously observing the event.

As Sri Vyasaraja entered deep meditation on the throne, a dark demonic force suddenly emerged, rushing towards him. Without a trace of fear, Sri Vyasaraja flung his Kaavi Shati (sacred cloth) at the entity. In an instant, before the eyes of the astonished assembly, the evil force was incinerated.

With the passing of that moment, the Kuhu Yoga had dissolved, and Krishnadevaraya’s impending misfortune was completely averted.

Sri Vyasaraja then stepped down from the throne and, with great reverence, reinstalled Sri Krishnadevaraya, performing a ceremonial Rajyabhisheka (Royal consecration) once again.

As a mark of this miraculous event, the tradition of Darbar (Royal court assembly) continues to be held every day after worship at the Sri Vyasaraja Matha to this very day.
