ಹಿಂದೂ ಧರ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಗೋವಿಗೆ (Gopoon in hindu Dharam) ವಿಶೇಷ ಮಾನ್ಯತೆಇದೆ. ಗೋವುಗಳಿರುವುದು ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿಯ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಗೋವನ್ನು(Cow Worship) ವಿಶೇಷವಾಗಿ ಪೂಜಿಸಿ, ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗುವುದು. ಅದರಲ್ಲೂ ಹಬ್ಬಹರಿದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಗೋವುಗಳನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸುವುದು ಕಡ್ಡಾಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ರೈತರು ಬೆಳೆಯ ಕೊಯ್ಲಿನ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ಗೋಪೂಜೆ ಎಂಬ ಹಬ್ಬ ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಇನ್ನು ಗೋ ಪೂಜೆ ಮಾಡುವುದರಿಂದ ಏನು ಫಲ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಿಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬುದನ್ನು ಪುರಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ರೀತಿ ತಿಳಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಗೋವಿಗೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕೈ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆದಷ್ಟು ತಿನಿಸು ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ, ಅದು ತಿನ್ನುತ್ತಾಇದ್ದ ಹಾಗೆ, ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ಮ ಸುಟ್ಟು ಬೂದಿಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಗೋವಿಗೆ ಗೌರವಕೊಡುವುದರಿಂದ ಹಿಂದಿನ ಜನ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ಮಾಡಿದ ಪಾಪ ಕರ್ಮದ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಕಡಿಮೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ (diminish) ಅಂತ ಸ್ಕಂದ ಪುರಾಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಹಿಂದೂಗಳು ವೇದಕಾಲದಿಂದಲೂ ಹಸುವನ್ನು (Cow) ದೇವತಾಸ್ವರೂಪದಿಂದ ಕಾಣುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಭಾರತೀಯ ಶಕ್ತಿ, ಭಾರತೀಯ ಸಂಪತ್ತು, ಭಾರತೀಯರ ಸರ್ವಸ್ವವೂ ಗೋಮಾತೆಯೇ (Gau Mata) ಆಗಿದೆ. ವರುಣಶ್ಚೈವ ಗೋಮೂತ್ರೇ ಗೋಮಯೇ ಹವ್ಯವಾಹನಃ | ದಧೇ ವಾಯುಃ ಸಮುದ್ದಿಷ್ಟಃ ಸೋಮಃಕ್ಷೀರೇ ಘೃತೇ ರವಿಃ || ಪರಾಶರ ಸ್ಮೃತಿ: 21-33
ಗೋ ಮೂತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ವರುಣ ದೇವರು, ಗೋಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ (ಸಗಣಿ) ಅಗ್ನಿ ದೇವನು, ಮೊಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಯು ದೇವನು, ಗೋವಿನ ಹಾಲಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಚಂದ್ರನು, ತುಪ್ಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೂರ್ಯ ದೇವನು ಇದ್ದಾರೆ. ಗೋಮಾತೆಯ ಒಂದೊಂದು ಅವಯವದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದೊಂದು ದೇವತೆ ಇದ್ದಾರೆಂದು ವೇದಗಳು ಹೇಳುತ್ತವೆ. ಒಂದು ಸಲ ಗೋಮಾತೆಯ ಪ್ರದಕ್ಷಿಣೆ ಮಾಡಿದರೆ ತ್ರಿಲೋಕ ಪ್ರದಕ್ಷಿಣೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಪುಣ್ಯ ಸಿಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಪ್ರತಿ ದಿನವೂ ಗೋ ಮಾತೆಯನ್ನು ಪೂಜಿಸುವವರಿಗೆ ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮೀಕಟಾಕ್ಷ ಸಿದ್ಧಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಆಕಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಸಾಕುವವರಿಗೆ ಆಯುಷ್ಯ ಜಾಸ್ತಿ ಇರುತ್ತದೆಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆಕಳ ಹಾಲು, ಮೊಸರು, ಮಜ್ಜಿಗೆ, ಬೆಣ್ಣೆ, ತುಪ್ಪ ತಿನ್ನುವವರು ಆರೋಗ್ಯವಂತರಾಗಿದ್ದು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಕಾಲ ಜೀವಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆಂದು ಪರಿಶೋಧಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ (Gau Pooja).

Why should we Perform Cow Pooja, Gau Pooja , Cow Worship
Gau
Pooja denotes the worship of Goddess Kamadhenu, the divine bovine
Goddess, who can fulfill all your wishes. Performing Gau Pooja can
wipe out all negativity and bestow you with wealth, happiness, and
prosperity in life.
Worshipping the Gau is a custom in
Hindu tradition. This is Called Gopooja. Much importance is given to
gopooja in our PURANAS. These PURANAS tell that the four Samudras
(Chathu Sagaras) are in the milk of the Gau (Goksheeram). The Vedic
Scholars say that all the worlds (Samastha Bhuvanaas) are hidden in
all parts of the Gau.If we Observe the details of the parts of the
Gau, the various devi devathas who dwell in the different parts of
the Gau are —-Lord Siva dwells in the forehead and horns of the
Gau.
That is why if one takes the water which is sprinkled
on the Gau’s horns it is Equalant to the effect of Water of Triveni
Sangamam. Not only that, it is as effective as worshipping Kasi
Visweswaradu with Siva Ashtotharam, Sahasranamalu and with the leaves
of Maredu (Bilwadalalu).It is also said that Lord Subrahmanya resides
in the nose part of the Gau, Worshiping that nose part is to prevent
the loss of children. To get relief from all diseases is worshiping
the ears of the Gau as it is the place of Aswini Devathas The Sun and
Moon are near the eyes of the Gau. So Worshipping the eyes of the Gau
is Beneficial to Obtain the Knowledge of light by driving away the
darkners of ignorance and also to get Wealth and Prosperity.
To
get Children early, Worshipping the tongue of the Gau as it is the
Place of Varuna Deva, to get good Education, Worshipping goddess
Saraswati, who is in the of the Gau, and on the right side of the
face of the Gau resides Yama and on the left side of the face
Dharmadevathas reside. Worshipping these two parts is important to
attain Moksha.In the Udder of the Gau are the four Purushardhas. So
it is to be Worshipped to get Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. As
Indra resides in the neck part of the Gau, it is to be worshipped to
beget children. Nagadevathas are at the end of the Hooves of the Gau
and they are to be worshipped to avoid the danger from the snakes.
The Hooves are the Places of Gandharvas and apsaras, they are to be
worshipped to Obtain all prosperity, So in all aspects, it is
Considered that worshipping the Gau is the worship of all
Devidevathas.

of Gau Pooja on Various Days:
On Monday giving Grass, Food, Green leafy like Agase Soppu, Banana to Gau will cleanse us off Mathru and Pithru Doshas.
On Tuesday giving water and food to Gau will provide housing and land purchase opportunities
On Wednesday giving food to Gau will give advancement in professional life.
On Thursday giving rice porridge to Gau will remove Purva Janma Dosha
On Friday doing Gau pooja will shower us with the blessings of Sri Mahalakshmi
On Saturday giving grass and Agasthya Soppu to Gau will remove us from the shackles of poverty.
On Dwadasi day worshiping Gau and giving Food will provide Punya of Annadanam ( offering food).
