Opposite to Lord Hanuman or Anjaneya there is a temple of Lord Narasimha (Lord Vishnu). Lord Hanuman is seen facing towards Lord Narasimha with folded hands and worshiping the lotus feet of Lord Narasimha. The special feature of Lord Narasimha is that we can notice the blood stain in the nails of Lord Narasimha, which was believed to be caused by killing the demon king Hiranyakashipu. Lord Narasimha is believed to be a self-manifested idol of Lord Vishnu, who is in the form of ‘Narasimha Swamy’ (half man and half lion). There is also a separate shrine for Goddess Lakshmi, who is popularly called as Goddess Namagiri Lakshmi, the consort of Lord Narasimha.

In Threthayuga during the Ramayana period, Sri Hanuman lifted the Sanjeevi Mountain from the Himalayas to get medical herbs. He then took the mountain back and replaced it in its original place. When he returned, he brought a Salagrama. During his journey, as the sun rose, he went down to the earth and performed the ritual of sandhya vandhana after placing the Salagrama near Sri Mahalakshmi's tapavanam.

After performing the pooja, Hanuman tried to lift the salagrama, but was unable to move it as easily as before. Suddenly, the salagrama grew larger and Hanuman heard an oracle saying, "Lord Narasimha wishes to stay here and he wants Hanuman to save Sri Ramachandramurthy first of all." Thus, Sri Hanuman completed his task and came to Namakkal Sthala on the western side of the rock, where he stands in open air and worships Lord Narasimha Swamy.
