RAMA -- Its Meaning
"राम" Rama ---- Meaning
The word "राम" has two expressed meanings: to be pleasant and to stop, like a weary traveler finding solace upon seeing a serene place.
In all the words formed to denote pleasant rest, "राम" is inherent, such as आराम (relaxation), विराम (pause), विश्राम (rest), अभिराम (charming), उपराम (calm), and ग्राम (village). Whatever compels one to rest in joy is "राम."
In
the ups and downs of life, the restless mind in search of a
consistently joyful destination finds its goal in "राम."
The Indian mind is accustomed to making "राम"
a witness in every situation.
In sorrow, "हे
राम" (Oh, Ram).
In pain,
"अरे
राम" (Oh, Ram)..
In shame,
"हाय
राम" (Alas, Ram).
In
adversity, "अरे
राम राम" (Oh, Ram Ram).
In
greetings, "राम
राम" (Ram Ram).
In oaths,
"राम
दुहाई" (Oath in the name of Ram).
In
ignorance, "राम
जाने" (Only Ram knows).
In
uncertainty, "राम
भरोसे" (In the trust of Ram).
For
infallibility, "रामबाण"
(The infallible Ram).
For death,
"रामनाम
सत्य" (The name of Ram is truth).
For good
governance, "रामराज्य"
(The kingdom of Ram).
Expressions
at every step stand as a testament to the presence of "राम."
"राम"
is so simple that it stands everywhere. Every Indian considers their
right to be associated with him.
For those without support, there is "राम" - "निर्बल के बल राम" (Strength for the weak). The attraction of the "रामकथा" (story of Ram) has never been lost. "राम" is eternal; what is good within us is "राम."
That which remains after everything is plundered is indeed "राम." Amidst profound despair, what rises is also "राम."
