Essence of Madwa Philosophy
Saint Vyasaraja elaborating on sri Madhwacharya's philosophy :
Lord Hari is the Supreme Being. The world of multiplicity is an ultimate reality. The Jivas are different from these and among themselves. They are the servants of Lord Hari, and there are distinctions of high and low among them. Liberation consists in the enjoyment of the bliss that is inherent in oneself. Pure devotion is the means of attaining it. There are three 'pra-manas', namely perception, inference and revealed scripture. The sole purport of the entire vedic revelation is Lord Hari,It is the sole purport of the vedic revelation which we try to see and achieve when we offer pure devotion to Lord Hari or Lord Krishna.
Sri Madhwa insists on Bhakthi as the method to attain the Lord. It is supreme attachment to the lord based on the complete understanding of the greatness and the supremacy of the Lord which transcends all kinds of love. This kind of amara Bhakthi alone secures Moksha or Heaven.
Some of ‘Acharya Madhwa's’ unique contributions:
1) Vedas are the only source to know the lord, Prthyaksha Anumana and Agama are the way to know the lord.
2) The Lord is Sakara as well as Nirakara. He is Saguna as well as Nirguna.
3) The Lord is 'Sarvagunapoorna' and 'Sarva doshavivarjitha'.
4) His '‘Jeevatraividya’'(Sathvika,Rajasa and Thamasa) was a unique concept which was not known earlier.
5) He said that every sound, every letter is an epithet of the lord.
6) Madhwa says that this world is a Dependent reality and Not a myth.
7) Pancha Bheda Tatva was his concept (Paramathma –Jeevathma, Jeeva-Jeeva, Jeeva-Jada, Jada-Jada and Jada- Paramathma).
Pancha bheda tatva
8) As God is Omnipresent, he is there in the idols also. So we should worship the intrinsic Paramatma in the idol.
