Dharapuram is one of the oldest towns in Tiruppur District and was the capital of Kongu Nadu under Kongu Cholas, at which time it was known as Vanchipuri and it is on the banks of the River Amaravathi a tributary of Cauvery and the beauty of the town is enhanced by the river.

Dharapuram is in Tiruppur district is the place famous for the presence of Sri Kadu Hanumantharaya Swamy temple. This Anjaneya vigraha was installed by one of the great saints in Madhwa yathi parampare -In the line distinguished paramahamsas established by the illustrious saint, philosopher in the 15th century Sri Vyasa thirtha (1447-1539) or Vyasarajaru a Madhwa saint per excellence who late become the Royal preceptor of king Krishna Deva Raya on the most enlightened and benevolent rulers of the Vijayanagar empire. Vyasarajaru has installed 732 Anjaneya temples around in Karnataka , Andrapradesh and Tamilnadu in a Span of 1 year during his Yatra.
The Swamy's right hand blesses the devotees and left hand carries the flower Sowganthi.
It has a History of more than 600 years old.
This temple is a unique place where along with the Mrithika Brindavana of Sri Raghavendra swamy and Sri Teekacharayara Mrithika Brindavana is there inside Laksmi Narasimha temple complex.
Car Festival is celebrated in a grand manner every year for around 10 days in this temple and Other Festivals like are Hanumantha jayanthi, Sri Ramanavami, Narasimha jayanthi, Sri Ragavendhra swamy Aaradhane, Sri Jayathirtara (Teekacharya) Aaradahane, Madhwanavami and Vaikunta Ekadasi.

Sri Vyasarajaru out Of the 732 idols of Anjaneya swamy he installed, this one in Dharapuram is the 89th in sequence. The lord here is very powerful and the devotees flock to this place from everywhere during the annual Car Festival celebrated on the Narasimha Jayanti day.
It is believed that this temple is one of the Nine important sacred shrines for the Madhwa community. The temple is mostly worshipped by people belonging to Madhwa community. Hanuman is the son of Wind God (Vayu Baghavan). To represent this an opening is left open above the "Sanctum Sanctorum" Main Vigraha enabling the presiding deity to enjoy wind, sun and rain alike. It is rare to find any notable temple in South India without a Vimanam or Tower above the Sanctum.
